Hockey is becoming more and more global, with competitive leagues all over the world. For most hockey clubs, the financial situation is a key focus, and player selection is of paramount importance in order to be successful in their league.
Hockey Clubs are operating under very competitive conditions, both on-ice and off-ice (e.g. financially). One of the biggest challenges is to find the RIGHT player at an optimal cost that can contribute to the team. While the hockey performance of a player is of great importance, the social aspect is, in many cases, equally important. This is especially true if the player is coming from another country, with a different culture and language. The recruitment process is the most critical process in order to find the RIGHT player and a mistake can be very costly. Access to as much information as possible about a potential player and access to a larger international pool of players are both positive elements in the recruitment process.
The challenge in the landscape of hockey is for players and teams to find one another, based on certain criteria. In business, the process of finding the ideal candidate for a specific job has changed from contact lists and networks, to sophisticated software that matches candidates and job openings. In professional hockey, the current process could be changed in the same way. For top athletes, the system of using agents to find the right hockey club is working. However, for the next tier of athletes, the traditional process needs to be improved.
The access to general information about hockey teams, players, coaches, and leagues is available online. As a result, the pool of players, coaches, and teams has become global. Players are willing to travel around the world in pursuit of fulfilling their dream of playing professional hockey. Teams are more than ever trying to find players from various countries and background to help them win. However, the current system is lacking a simple and effective method to help these players, coaches, and teams connect. Players and coaches are missing out on countless opportunities and teams are missing out on potential impact players. We believe that a global network to locate new possibilities is the solution. Through an optimal online searching and connecting concept, ProHockeyIQ™ is offering a unique solution to the recruitment challenge.
ProHockeyIQ™ offers a cloud based membership solution through a one-time payment, ranging from 30 days to 365 days of active search. Hockey Clubs and Players can sign up, fully complete their profiles, and be found in our search and match database free of charge. Coaches can sign up, fully complete their profiles, and create listings to be found on our Job Board. For Hockey Clubs, the solution can assist them in locating players in a time and cost efficient manner. The online tool can assist a Hockey Club’s scouting department in finding/evaluating potential new players, which previously may not have been an option. Hockey Clubs can gather more information; including test results and references, before contracting a player. Additionally, Hockey Clubs can utilize the Job Board to assist them in locating coaches and other staff types, such as trainers. Hockey Players can, via an international network, explore new possible hockey clubs to play for. The membership solution is an inexpensive compliment or alternative to the traditional sports agent since it is always available. The search and match solution is tailored to the players’ specific criteria, allowing the player to find teams best suited for a players’ unique situation.

We are a team of professional executives, hockey managers and hockey players with an extensive global network in professional ice hockey. Over the last couple of years, we have analyzed and talked about the professional hockey landscape.
